Programme & Enrolment

Enrol at Harakeke!Opening times

  • Tuesday to Friday 8.30 am to 3.00 pm (or as discussed with current Harakeke whānau).
  • Harakeke will be closed on all Public Holidays.
  • Harakeke will be closed for a summer break of 4 weeks and possibly a winter break of 1 week (as discussed with current Harakeke whānau).

Bookings

  • A minimum of 3 enrolment days is required for 3 to 5 year old children to ensure continuity within the group and programme.

Change of bookings

  • Requests for changes to permanent bookings must be made 1 week in advance.
  • Cancellation of bookings must be made 2 weeks in advance.

Standard fees

  • Harakeke offers government funded 20 hours Early Childhood Education (ECE) for all 3, 4 and 5 year old children enrolled who have this entitlement not attested to any other Early Childhood Education service and are not enrolled in any other early childhood service on the same day they attend Harakeke.
  • Booked and/or attended hours exceeding the 20 hours ECE (maximum 6 hours per day) will be charged at an hourly rate of $7.50 and calculated weekly on whichever is the greater.
  • Booked and/or attended hours for children not entitled to 20 hours ECE will  be charged at an hourly rate of $8.50 and calculated weekly on whichever is the greater.
  • Harakeke is asking for an additional family contribution (optional charge) of $2.50 per booked hour/child for children entitled to 20hrs ECE.
    The optional charge is in accordance with the governments 20 hours Early Childhood Education policy and is used for:
    • additional teachers beyond the minimum regulated adult/child ratio
    • maintaining more than 80% qualified teachers
    • to ensure our successful journey towards pay parity for all teachers
    • forest days/nature programme
    • the provision of extracurricular resources/activities like our music teacher, gardening tuition and resources supplied as well as for areas of curriculum relating to healthy eating and food preparation
    • home visits
    • video and collected photos of your child presented at the end of their Harakeke learning journey
    • Kina Camp
    • extra staffing costs for festival celebrations (Easter, Matariki), pizza evenings, parent evenings etc
    • transport to school visits, Eves Valley nature programme, home visits etc
    • personalised pillowcases, glasses, wooden name tags etc

Absences

  • If your child is not able to attend because of illness or personal reasons we would appreciate being informed in the morning.
  • A holding fee discussed on an individual basis will apply for absences of more than 3 consecutive weeks.
